Work to Live by Joe Robinson
Robinson is one of the key folks in the Work to Live
Movement. He is often called on by CNN and the news media
to comment on issues of work-life balance, vacation and
holiday issues and work stress. It is an excellent, easy to
read book.
In Praise of Slowness by Carl Honore
This British author is on target about the need to slow
down and ways that modern folks can do it. I traded emails
with him last year when he was on a 16 hour flight. He is
not a Luddite, but understands that life does not have to
be lived at the pace we are accustomed.
Take Back Your Time by John De Graaf (ed.)
A collection of articles, statistics, opinion and research
about how much Americans work. Known as the "official
handbook" of the Take Back Your Time Day movement.
The Over Worked American and The
Overspent American by Juliet B. Schor
These are two classic books dealing with the priorities of
the American public. They were written before 2000, but the
information is very current.
